With these grants, rural health care providers and their communities collaborate to address their unique health and wellness challenges. The grants are offered and funded by the BCBSND Caring Foundation and administered by the Center for Rural Health at the University of North Dakota, School of Medicine and Health Sciences.

Grant details:

  • Amount: Six to eight grants will be awarded to rural providers ranging from $5,000 to $7,500
  • Grant Proposals Accepted: Each November via UND’s Rural Health Grant website
  • Applications must be submitted by a health care provider

A Rural Health Grant could include, but is not limited to:

  • Developing veteran peer support aimed at rural areas to reduce suicide rates and improve mental health
  • Providing essential resources to students and their families facing hardships to alleviate barriers to learning
  • Creating a handicap-accessible garden for nursing home residents to improve health
  • Supplying adaptive devices to allow patients with mobility issues to get to medical appointments
